Logos and their meaning - Part 2

SBI

SBI logo represents a keyhole meaning a common man can unlock all his banking needs with the guarantee that his/her belongings are safe and secure.

An interesting fact is that the designer took inspiration from the bank tokens that were kept near the counter, to be issued to waiting customers and combined with a keyhole which symbolises security. 

Unilever

The logo consists of a letterform and a wordmark. Wherein the letterform is a big blue U and it consists of icons. Each icon represents an aspect of the business and Unilever's goal to make sustainable living commonplace. 

The icons involved and their meaning is as follows - 

Sun: Represents an infinite source of light and renewable energy. Highlights Unilever's efforts to find innovative ways to reduce the greenhouse gas impact on their products across the lifecycle.

Dove: Represents freedom, empowerment and self-esteem.

Plant: Represents their commitment towards reducing environmental impact across the value chain from how raw materials are sourced, manufacturing operations, how consumers cook, clean and wash with their products.

Spark: Represents Unilever’s aim to enhance the livelihoods of the people they work with around the world like their suppliers, distributors and farmers.

Chilli pepper: Represents one of the many fresh ingredients used in their products. It also represents their commitment towards sourcing agricultural raw materials sustainably.

Spoon: Represents nutrition, taste and cooking. 

Bowl: Represents their commitment to good quality ingredients and healthy mealtimes.

Flower: Represents sensitivity, care and beauty. 

Ice cream: Represents treat, pleasure and enjoyment.

Hand: Represents sensitivity, care and need. 

Hair: Represents beauty and confidence.

Lips: Represents communication, openness and transparency.

Swirl: Represents their passion for flavour and taste.

Fish: Represents fresh food, sea and nature’s resources.

Clothes: Represents fresh laundry and confidence.

Bee: Represents the community spirit of people and their commitment to find innovative ways of working to reduce environmental footprint.

Particle: Represents science and their ongoing commitment to find new innovative ways to improve the lives of their consumers.

Packaging: Represents their dedication to consumer experience and the commitment to finding new and innovative packaging that is better for the consumer and the planet.

Transformation: Represents positive change in terms of finding sustainable ways of doing business.

Waves: Represents cleanliness, freshness and vigour.

DNA: Represents double helix, the genetic blueprint of life and a symbol of Unilever’s strong heritage of positive change that still lies at the heart of their business today.

Palm tree: Represents their respect for the natural world.

Heart: Represents love, care and health. 

Virtuous cycle: Represents efforts being taken to reduce the waste associated with the disposal of our products.

HDFC

The square block at the centre depicts a house and the four red corners around depict the four corner walls of the house.  

The slogan “We understand your world” conveys the message that the bank provides housing loans to all and invests in the housing development sector.
